Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding school-based contract position supporting elementary students as a dedicated 1:1 paraprofessional. Located near Des Plaines, IL, this opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about making a meaningful impact in education, especially those who bring compassion and adaptability to their role. The school is seeking a caring paraprofessional—preferably female—to work closely with a student who benefits from individualized attention. Experience with students with disabilities, including hands-on support with feeding and toileting, is highly valued. This position provides 32.5 hours per week of purposeful interaction and support, allowing you to build meaningful connections and see the impact of your work daily.
Desired Qualifications:
Paraprofessional experience in a school setting, especially elementary Demonstrated ability to support students with disabilities Comfortable assisting with activities of daily living (feeding, toileting, mobility) Patient, empathetic, and committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Key Responsibilities:
Work 1:1 with an elementary-aged student, providing individualized academic and personal support throughout the school day Assist with feeding, toileting, and other personal care needs in a respectful, supportive manner Collaborate with special education teachers and related service staff Help foster a safe, positive, and inclusive educational experience for the student Adapt to daily changes and follow individualized education plans (IEPs)
