Job Description

Scope of Responsibilities:
The Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Paraprofessional supports young children (typically ages 3-5) with developmental delays or disabilities in a preschool setting. This position assists the classroom teacher in implementing individualized instruction, behavior supports, and daily routines to promote students' academic, social-emotional, and functional development.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Student Support Provide direct support to individual students and small groups Assist students with participation in classroom activities and play Support social skills, communication, and independence Supervise students during arrival, dismissal, recess, meals, and transitions Monitor safety and well-being of students at all times Instructional Support Implement teacher-directed lessons and activities aligned with IEP goals Assist with curriculum modifications and accommodations Reinforce learning through guided practice and repetition Prepare materials and learning centers Collect observational and progress data as directed Behavioral Support Implement positive behavior interventions and supports Assist with self-regulation strategies and social-emotional development Help maintain a structured, supportive classroom environment Personal Care & Physical Assistance Assist with toileting, feeding, hygiene, and dressing as needed Support mobility, positioning, and physical needs Follow health and safety procedures for all care tasks Classroom & Team Responsibilities Collaborate with teachers and related service staff Maintain confidentiality of student information Assist with classroom organization and record-keeping Participate in trainings and staff meetings Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • At least 19 years of age (Beginning January 1, 2023, you may qualify for the ELS Paraprofessional license by meeting the requirements outlined below at age 18) One of the following required:
  • Associate's degree or higher
  • 60 semester hours of coursework
  • High School Diploma or GED AND a score of 460 or higher on the ETS Parapro
  • Preferred experience working with students in a learning environment

$17.00 per hour
