Job Description

Make a meaningful impact supporting elementary students for the 2026-2027 school year as a full-time paraprofessional! This contract opportunity is based at an elementary school in the North Chicago area, working Monday through Friday for a total of 35 hours per week. Successful candidates will play a key part in creating a nurturing, effective classroom environment for childrenespecially those with challenging behaviorsby assisting both teachers and students in daily educational activities.
Qualifications & Experience Desired:
Active Illinois Paraprofessional Certification (required) Previous work with elementary-aged children, ideally in a school setting Demonstrated ability to effectively manage behavior and provide 1:1 student support Experience assisting with toileting is preferred Strong communication and collaboration skills Adaptable, patient, and able to work in a fast-paced classroom environment
Primary Responsibilities:
Support classroom management and contribute to a positive learning atmosphere Assist teachers with instructional duties and individualized support for students Provide 1:1 help for students who need additional guidance Supervise and aid students during classroom tasks, activities, and transitions Assist with toileting and personal care needs as required As part of our team, youll have the opportunity to build rewarding relationships with both students and staff while gaining valuable experience in an educational setting. The role offers a set schedule following the school day calendar, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch and two 15-minute unpaid breaks each day.
