Provides direct care and supervision of clients within the milieu in accordance with the agency treatment program including Agency Behavior Treatment Plan (ABTP), Trauma Informed Care Framework, TCI and Illinois School Code. Under direct supervision of Teaching staff, provides assistance in the area of instruction and classroom management to ensure a quality learning environment for the students. Under the direct supervision of the Shift Supervisor, implements individual and group programming on the units during non-school days.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Understands and implements therapeutic interventions using concepts and skills from Allendale's Trauma Informed Care Framework, Clinical Trainings, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) trainings, as well as other RTO (Restraint Time Out) trainings. Under the supervision of the assigned teacher, implements instructional programs and lesson plans within small groups and one-on-one sessions. 2. Adheres to Illinois Administrative Code (23 IAC 1.285) for purposes of time out and physical restraint. Utilizes these restrictive interventions at times when a student is a danger to self or others. Implements student behavioral plans in accordance with the IEP and/or treatment plan. 3. Attends and actively participates in school clinical and team meetings, agency trainings, and residential team meetings when appropriate. Maintains compliance with all required agency training (i.e.: TCI, CPR/1st Aid, etc.) Demonstrates flexibility and skill in being capable of working in a variety of milieu settings within scheduled shift (i.e. different classrooms and units). Demonstrates competence in the EHR system (i.e. SmartCare) and all required documentation. Completes behavioral and service documentation on time. 5. Assists in the preparation of instructional materials and bulletin board displays. Assists with maintaining a clean and organized milieu. Ensures classroom computers and equipment are in working order. Reports maintenance needs/work requests to appropriate personnel. 6. Assists Teaching staff and Recreation staff in providing basic instruction and supervision in ancillary subjects to students in areas such as music, art, physical education, leisure activities, etc. 7. Assists with student record keeping such as behavior tracking, grades, and filing. Assists in presenting progress reports on students and communicating these reports to other staff at appropriate times. 8. Assists in the planning, implementation, and supervision of clients in recreation activities during school vacations and holidays. 9. Provides direct care and supervision of residents in unit program areas during the morning routine, non- school days and at other times as appropriate. 10. Follows medical procedures for residents as directed by the Health Services Director.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE A. REQUIRED
1. Bachelor's Degree OR 5 years related experience OR Paraprofessional License 2. Demonstrated proficiency in skills for basic math, reading, language arts and other core academic subject areas
