Standard Internship $ Paid $13.00/hr Part Time Description Our organization is a licensed early childhood education center serving children ages 3-5 in a structured, play-based Pre-K environment. We are committed to fostering social-emotional development, early literacy, kindergarten readiness skills, and positive behavior supports through developmentally appropriate practices. The Assistant Pre-K Teacher Intern will participate in a structured internship program designed to provide hands-on experience in early childhood education. The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Lead Pre-K Teacher and Center Director. They will receive daily guidance, weekly feedback meetings, and ongoing mentorship focused on classroom management, lesson implementation, child development principles, and professional workplace skills.
Training will include:
Classroom observation and modeling of effective teaching strategies Introduction to early childhood curriculum planning Child guidance and behavior support techniques Health and safety procedures Professional communication with families and staff Learning goals for the intern include: Understanding child development milestones for preschool-aged children Developing effective classroom management strategies Assisting in planning and implementing age-appropriate learning activities Building professional communication and teamwork skills Gaining foundational experience for a future career in education or child development Responsibilities The Assistant Pre-K Teacher Intern will: Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and structured learning activities Support small group instruction in literacy, math readiness, art, and social-emotional learning Facilitate hands-on learning centers and guided play activities Observe and document student participation and progress under supervision Support positive behavior reinforcement and classroom routines Assist with preparing classroom materials for instructional activities Model appropriate behavior and social skills for students Participate in staff meetings or planning discussions when appropriate Maintain classroom organization and cleanliness as part of overall learning environment support Administrative tasks will be minimal and will not exceed 25% of responsibilities. The primary focus of this internship is active engagement with children and instructional support Qualifications Interest in early childhood education, child development, or a related field Reliable, punctual, and professional in behavior and appearance Ability to communicate respectfully with children and adults Willingness to learn and accept constructive feedback Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team No prior teaching experience required This internship is designed as an entry-level learning experience for students exploring careers in education.
