Infant/Toddler Montessori Classroom Assistant About Our School Magnolia Montessori is a small micro-Montessori school serving infants through adolescents in a mixed-age environment, where nature is our classroom. We embrace an immersive, outdoor-based approach, allowing children to learn, explore, and grow in harmony with the natural world. General Position Description The Classroom Assistant is responsible for being a part of a teaching team, helping to maintain the curriculum with direction from the lead teacher, and helping manage the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. The assistant must work collectively with the lead guide. Assistants must support the lead teacher in maintaining a quality educational program following the Montessori philosophy. Dedicated to providing children with an authentic Montessori education, this role will also be responsible for and building partnerships with families to support our students in reaching their full potential. The Assistant Guide must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children. Key Responsibilities Support the lead teacher in maintaining a quality educational program following the Montessori philosophy Supervise and guide children throughout the day and assist in the implementation of daily program activities together with the lead guide, including spending ample amounts of time outside. Provide direct support to a dysregulated child, when needed, using techniques discussed and in line with the school philosophy. This may include being a child's 1 on 1 assistant. Display professionalism when communicating with staff, students and parents positively and effectively. Working with children ages 6 weeks up to 12 years in a loving and nurturing way Attend professional development meetings and school events as a member of the school community Display a loving and caring demeanor to implement positive discipline methods that align with the school's high standards of caregiving Help students use the restroom and develop independence with personal hygiene (hand washing and bathroom usage). Diapering is required. Assist in maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment. Assist in developing additional Montessori materials, as well as helping with administrative tasks. Supervise children in aftercare, if scheduled Model grace and courtesy with students and adults at all times. Educational Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required Additional Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young children is preferred, but not required Willingness to learn and understand Montessori Philosophy Infant/child/adult CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within the first 90 days of hire. Must clear full background check and drug test Physical Requirements Requirements include the ability to use hands and fingers, handle objects, talk to and hear voices at many levels, kneel, bend, squat, sit on the floor for extended periods of time. Ability to lift approximately 30lbs. Compensation & Benefits This is a part-time/full-time hourly position with a pay range of $13-16 per hour , depending on experience and qualifications.
