QUALIFICATIONS
Completed at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher learning, passed the paraprofessional exam to become highly qualified and/or obtained an associates degree or higher and met one of the following requirements: (1) Post elementary work in education or a related field; (2) Previous work experience in instructional program documented by letter(s) of references; (3) Previous experience as a classroom assistant documented by letter(s) of reference and description of responsibilities.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
a. Work under the direct supervision of a classroom teacher. b. Assist in planning learning experiences for the students. c. Assist in the production of instructional materials and use of technology. d. Assist in implementing classroom routines such as storing materials and cleaning work areas. e. Assist in instruction-related clerical tasks including scoring of student products. f. Work with students on activities, while the teacher works with small groups of students. g. Helps in the monitoring of student learning. h. Tutor students to strengthen skills or concepts under the supervision of the teacher. i. Confer regularly with the classroom teacher about the programs and achievement of each student. j. Maintain confidentiality of student information/data. k. Help with the planning and implementation of after school parent meetings. l. Continuation of employment dependent upon Title 1 funding and program description. m. Successful interview with Building Principal.
