Every member of our team is a valuable resource in this pursuit of excellence, and we are currently seeking an Applied Skills Paraprofessional at DeKalb Middle School! What your day will look like: Under supervision, you will be involved in the entire educational day of children.
This will include:
Assisting in the learning activities of children who have multiple cognitive, behavior, emotional and medical abilities. Provide various clerical and instructional support for the instructional teacher. Assisting in the individual or small group instruction of students on individualized goals. Ensure that the individual student performance levels, needs and abilities are supported. Assist students off the bus and into the building, and out of the building and on the bus. Assist students as they learn how to serve themselves at lunch and assist with feeding. Assist students in learning toileting, which may include assisting in the restroom, changing diapers, and assisting with other medical needs. Lifting students into and out of wheelchairs. Assist in behavior management of students and maintaining a safe atmosphere for students in your care. Receive Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Training. Collaborate with teachers and other paraprofessionals in the applied skills classrooms. This position will be 40 hours per week. Why we'll love you: You have worked hard to earn a H.S.
