The Position We're looking for a Program Assistant to join our team! This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people and wants meaningful work .
Schedule:
Mondays & Wednesdays, 10:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Additional opportunities to fill in as needed Joyful Journey is open Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. As a Program Assistant, you'll help create the kind of day our Friends look forward to. You'll engage, encourage, laugh, listen, and participate alongside adults living with chronic illnesses and/or disabilities. You'll help facilitate a variety of activities that promote physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being—from games and exercise to creative projects, music, conversation, and simply being present with someone who needs a friend.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Provide direct care and supervision of Friends. Monitor, supervise, and/or assist with all Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). The most common ADL's at Joyful Journey include assisting with mobility and restroom support, providing hands-on assistance as needed according to the participants' plan of care.
  • Handle and serve food according to ServSafe best practices and in accordance with regulations set forth by the Tippecanoe County Health Department.
  • Lead various social, recreational, physical, and cognitive activities with Friends according to the Daily Program Schedule. Independently develop activities as assigned by the Program Manager.
  • Set up needed equipment for activities and see that all equipment and supplies are cleaned up and stored properly and promptly.
  • Assist with inventory, maintenance, and storage of program equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain environmental health, safety and sanitation standards. Follow infection control procedures at all times in order to maintain safe and hazard-free conditions.
  • Responsible for daily cleaning assignments.
  • Record accurate, legible information about participant care, conditions, and observations in a timely fashion within participant files and charts.
  • Maintain high standards of customer service for all Friends and Caregivers.
  • Maintain and promote a positive environment by respecting Friends' rights, concerns, and dignity.
  • Provide Medication Monitoring in accordance with each Friend's care plan.
  • Activities not allowed: Services to participants receiving Assisted Living waiver service.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS
    Preferred:
    minimum of 2 years experience working with elderly, memory-impaired, and/or disabled persons. Must possess basic knowledge and understanding of dementia and other conditions related to the aging process as well as other cognitive and physical challenges.
    • 2 years experience working in senior activities and providing support for all Activities of Daily Living.
    Preferred:
    Certified Nurse Assistant
    • Possess the ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
    • Provide excellent service by working joyfully and tactfully with personnel, volunteers, Friends, caregivers, and the general public
    • Must possess excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
    • Be at least 18 years of age.
    • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Understand and adhere to HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act) regulations.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic, religious and age backgrounds.
    • Certified in CPR, First Aid, and AED (Joyful Journey will provide certification).
    • Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, criminal background check, physical, and TB screen.
    All job offers are contingent upon passing these pre-employment screenings.
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    At times, this can be a physically demanding job. Potential team members should be comfortable standing, sitting, bending, picking things up, etc. as they respond to Friend needs. You should also be able to lift up to 25lbs and be comfortable spending up to 75% of your day on your feet and actively engaged.

    From $16.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 14.0 per week
