LOCATION
Eugene Field Early Learning TITLE:
Early Childhood Classroom Support
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma Childcare Experience (preferred) Must be able to manage 12 students ages 3-5 independently when necessary
REPORTS TO
Teacher/Principal
JOB GOAL
To support the lead teacher in providing preschool students with optimal learning opportunities in all areas of development.
HOURS:
12:30 PM- 5:30 PM Monday-Friday 10 month employment (optional summer employment)
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports the lead teacher in maintaining a classroom environment conducive to effective learning. Guides students in maintaining acceptable standards of classroom behavior in an age-appropriate manner. Ensures the needs of students are met while the lead teacher and assistant teacher are providing small group or individual instruction. Engages with students in indoor play. Interacts with students during outdoor play and takes the necessary precautions to ensure children are safe. Assumes responsibility for meal preparation including sanitizing tables, dispersing food items, and meal clean-up. Supervises students during rest time. Responds appropriately to the cultural, ethnic, economic, and linguistic differences of students. Relays accurate information to families as directed by the lead teacher or building administration. Attends and participates in on-going professional development and faculty meetings. Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with others. Performs other duties as assigned by the teacher or building administration.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Part-time employment. Placement on Teacher Assistant/Classroom Support Staff Salary Schedule. Fringe benefits include health insurance and paid sick and personal leave.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on classified personnel.
