POSITION PURPOSE
The Early Learning Paraeducator supports the classroom teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. The paraeducator assists students in developing academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and independence skills while supporting the daily routines and instructional needs of the early learning program.
WORK SCHEDULE
Regular Hours:
8:20 AM-4:00 PM, Monday through
Friday Bus Assignment:
Approximately two days per week, the employee may be scheduled to ride a student bus, requiring an earlier start time of approximately 7:30 AM or a later end time of approximately 5:00 PM.
Employment Term:
10-month position, with the possibility of summer employment based on program needs
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher to maintain a positive, safe, and well-organized learning environment. Support students in learning and following classroom routines, expectations, and appropriate behaviors using developmentally appropriate strategies. Provide supervision and support to students during whole-group, small-group, individual, and independent learning activities. Actively engage with students during classroom learning, centers, play, transitions, and other daily routines. Supervise and interact with students during outdoor learning and play while consistently following active supervision and safety procedures. Assist with meals and snacks, including preparing and sanitizing tables, supporting meal routines, distributing food as directed, and assisting with cleanup. Support students during rest time while maintaining appropriate supervision and classroom procedures. Assist students with personal care and daily living needs as appropriate for preschool-aged children. Promote student independence while providing assistance and support when needed. Demonstrate respect and responsiveness to the cultural, linguistic, developmental, and socioeconomic backgrounds of students and families. Communicate professionally with families and share information as directed by the classroom teacher or administration. Follow all district, building, Head Start, early childhood, health, safety, and confidentiality requirements applicable to the position. Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities. Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with students, families, coworkers, and community partners. Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and staff. Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or building administrator.
EMPLOYMENT DETAILS
This is a classified position. Compensation is determined according to the district's applicable Teacher Assistant/Classroom Support Staff salary schedule. Eligible employees receive district benefits, including health insurance and paid sick and personal leave, in accordance with district policy and applicable employment agreements.
PERFORMANCE REVIEW
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Manhattan-Ogden USD 383 Board of Education policies and procedures for classified personnel.
Pay:
$12.00 - $13.50 per hour Expected hours: 35.0 per week
