Job Description

Take your experience as a paraprofessional to the next level by supporting students in specialized classrooms in the New Orleans area. This contract opportunity is available immediately, continuing through May 27, 2027, with a full-time, school-year schedule (35 hours per week, Monday to Friday). You'll play an essential part in lower teacher-to-pupil ratio classes, where your skills will directly benefit students with complex communication needs and behavioral challenges—from Autism to related disabilities. What we're looking for: Experience working in classroom settings, particularly with students who have challenging behaviors and unique communication needs Ability to read and interpret IEPs Familiarity with Autism spectrum disorders or similar disabilities One of the following: an Associate's Degree, a ParaPro assessment score of 450 or higher, or 48 semester credit hours (district requirement) Classroom experience is required Preferred (but not required): CPI or de-escalation training, significant behavior intervention experience, and/or CPR Certification Willingness to complete all credentialing steps, including drug testing, fingerprinting, and district-specific background checks What your day might include: Supporting and assisting lead teachers in providing instruction and individualized support Implementing IEPs and behavior intervention plans under supervision Helping students navigate complex communication and social interactions Maintaining a safe and positive classroom environment for all Assisting with data collection and reporting on student progress Collaborating closely with educators and therapy teams You'll bring compassion, patience, and a keen understanding of students' unique daily needs, making a real difference in their educational journey.
