August 17, 2026 Job Description St. Paul's Weekday Nursery School is seeking a part time Lead Teacher for up to 25 hours per week. Hours 8:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m. St. Paul's Weekday Nursery School, located in Bedford Massachusetts, is best described as a "Traditional" Preschool. In a warm and caring atmosphere we provide experiences for each child to develop growth in social/emotional, cognitive, language and physical developmental areas. We encourage a child to be articulate, self-confident, independent and empathetic. St. Paul's has a secular school curriculum and welcomes all children. The school runs September through mid June. During the school year we welcome children age 2 years 9 months through age 5. There are 2, 3, 4 and 5 day morning programs that run 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. In addition to the requirements listed below, the ideal candidate for the Lead Teacher position will possess thoughtful and wise leadership qualities, be able to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers, and be able to manage a variety of job responsibilities without supervision. The Lead Teacher will be kind and warm, and understand the importance of nurturing care in the early years of childhood.

Friday Primary Responsibilities:
Prepare daily lesson plans and teaching materials Maintain a warm, nurturing, and organized learning environment Communicate regularly with parents and families about their children's learning Fulfill administrative duties (e.g. attendance, staff meetings, etc.) Monitor transitions, lunch, recess blocks, and other coverages, as needed Manage student behavior and assist in maintaining daily behavior charts Document and record student progress and growth Utilize educational technology and other innovative resources to drive student learning Perform other related duties, as assigned Qualifications - Candidates should have or possess: Strong communication skills and the ability to build collaborative relationships with families and coworkers Enthusiasm for working with and supporting the development of 2.9 months - 5 year-old children Experience teaching foundational reading, writing, and math skills Experience with remote and online learning platforms such as Google Classroom and Zoom At least 2 years of pre-school teaching experience.

The School Director Position Requirements Massachusetts DEEC Lead Teacher qualifications (can be working towards) Citizenship, residency or work visa require Management and Leadership skills to develop staff and to foster a culture of collaboration. Knowledge of licensing standards, requirements, and procedures. Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills. Comfortable participating in both classroom and administrative activities. Familiarity with computers/technology
