Montessori Assistant Teacher / Extended Day Lead Teacher Part-Time | 11:30 AM - 5:30 PM (with 30-minute break) Position Overview We are seeking a collaborative, observant, and adaptable educator to join our Montessori classroom as an Assistant Teacher and Extended Day Lead Teacher. This role blends classroom support during the school day with leadership of a thoughtful, engaging extended-day program. The ideal candidate brings warmth, strong judgment, and a deep respect for children; supporting a classroom environment rooted in beauty, order, independence, and community. Key Responsibilities Classroom Support (with Lead Teacher): Support all aspects of classroom management and lesson delivery Guide children toward purposeful, independent work Maintain awareness of the overall classroom tone, flow, and harmony Observe and respond to children's academic, social-emotional, and physical needs Collaborate closely with the Lead Teacher and classroom team Step into the Lead role when needed Help maintain materials (clean, complete, and developmentally appropriate) Aftercare /

Extended Day Leadership:

Design and lead a cohesive, Montessori-aligned after-school program Create engaging, hands-on experiences (art, movement, imaginative play) Ensure a calm, respectful, and enriching end-of-day environment Support children's transitions from structured work to relaxed exploration

Build respectful relationships with families and colleagues Participate in meetings and professional development Support arrival, dismissal, playground, and lunch routines Contribute to the care and appearance of the classroom and shared spaces Take initiative in supporting school needs and projects Qualifications Bachelor's Degree and/or EEC Teacher Certification Minimum 2 years experience in early childhood education or childcare Montessori experience preferred CPR Certification (preferred) Skills & Dispositions Strong interpersonal and communication skills Calm, grounded presence with children Ability to observe, prioritize, and respond thoughtfully Organizational skills and attention to detail Collaborative mindset and team orientation Sound judgment, emotional stability, and professionalism Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally Frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout the classroom Work Environment This is an in-person role in a dynamic early childhood setting.
