POSITION OVERVIEW
The Education Assistant supports the delivery of high-quality, developmentally appropriate educational and academic-support programs, activities, services, and special events for youth. The position works closely with the Education Program Manager and other Club staff to engage members, support positive learning environments, and contribute to safe and effective program delivery.
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES and
RESPONSIBILITIES
Commitment to Excellence in Education Program Delivery, Youth Engagement, and Safety Assist in the delivery of high-quality, developmentally appropriate education programs, activities, and events as directed by the Education Program Manager. Support the implementation and completion of applicable BGCB program standards and annual program requirements. Assist with member supervision, redirection, and behavior management within program areas and throughout the Club as appropriate, following established BGCB practices. Secure and maintain program materials, equipment, and other resources and help ensure program areas remain safe, clean, organized, and ready for member use. Participate in various evaluation efforts throughout each program year, including the annual member survey. Know safety emergency procedures and enforce all enforce rules and protocols to ensure safety of our youth and programs. Technical and Professional Knowledge Apply knowledge of youth development principles in assigned club program area. Secure and maintain materials, equipment and other resources belonging to program area(s). Seek out and participate in professional development opportunities as approved, provided or directed. Communication, Collaboration and Teamwork Strong verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with colleagues, families and instruct youth in quality programming, including applying conflict resolution skills and best classroom and group management practices. Participate in collaborative programs, events and field trips with staff from different clubhouse groups, staff from other BGCB clubhouses and community organizations as appropriate. Collaborate with staff from other Club program areas, BGCB sites, and community organizations to support programs, activities, events, and other member opportunities as appropriate. Support volunteers and consultants who provide educational instruction, resources, or other guidance to members. Perform other related duties as specified by the Education Program Manager.

Teaching youth/teens the importance of living an active, healthy lifestyle is a BGCB priority. As a result, all staff are expected to model healthy behavior while working with our members. BGCB values creating child-friendly environments, where youth/teens of all abilities can be successful and participate. QUALIFICATIONS
Required High school diploma or GED. Experience providing educational, academic-support, enrichment, or related programming for youth. Knowledge of youth development principles and developmentally appropriate practices. Ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexibility. Must be or become Current CPR/First Aid certified. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work effectively with youth and families from a variety of backgrounds. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Flexibility to work Club hours as seasons and service needs change. Valid Driver's License. Preferred or Ideal Bachelor's degree or coursework in education, youth development, human services, or a related field. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based systems. Bi-lingual or multilingual. TRAVEL Travel between sites and to activities as needed.

  • $19/hr
  • $23/hr
  • commensurate with experience; along with a great work environment
