Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The Rashi School, Greater Boston's Reform Jewish Independent School, serving students in grades Pre-K-8 seeks a Pre-Kindergarten Assistant Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Rashi's Lower School uses a collaborative teaching model to promote students' academic, social, and emotional growth by nurturing an environment that promotes risk taking, flexibility, adaptability, empathy, and resilience through collaborative teaching which models behaviors of the adults. We seek to employ faculty and staff with diverse backgrounds who model these traits for our students and are eager to support Rashi in fulfilling its mission. This is a full-time position with a first year salary of $35,000. There are opportunities to supplement income in Rashi's After School Program.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Work directly with students as directed by the Lead Teacher (e.g. working with an individual student or small group, conferencing, etc.) to inspire and challenge all learners. Assist the Lead Teacher in ensuring that all students are receiving appropriate accommodations. Assist the Lead Teacher during transition times to and from specialists. Demonstrate leadership under the direction of the Lead Teacher-i.e., taking charge of the classroom when the Lead Teacher is absent; developing some areas of the curriculum for specific groups of students; creating activities for morning meetings. Participate in regular planning meetings with the Lead Teacher. Assist the Lead Teacher in classroom set-up. Support the Lead Teacher with the writing and proofreading of progress reports. Assist the Lead Teacher with other responsibilities such as photocopying, lesson preparation and set-up, maintaining bulletin boards, etc. Attend grade level meetings Participate in Parent-Teacher Conferences. Share duties (recess, lunch, etc.) set by the Assistant Head of School for Academic Operations. Participate in Tefillah, Kabbalat Shabbat (worship services), and other holiday celebrations.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree Prior experience working in an early childhood setting
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Able to sit, stand, type, twist, bend. Able to use telephone and computers. Able to lift 10-15 lb
