Are you looking for a rewarding position in human services? The Whitney Academy, Inc. is a residential treatment center. We serve adolescent boys, ages 10 to 22 who present with cognitive delays and a spectrum of behavioral problems. These problems include psychiatric diagnoses, sexualized and trauma reactive behaviors. Our mission is to provide education, residential and treatment environments that are as "normal" as possible given the needs of the students we serve. As a Teacher Aide, you will assist classroom instruction and lesson planning to students performing below grade level in a six-student, self-contained classroom. Other requirements include excellent interpersonal, organization and communication skills, and ability to collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary team. Teacher Aide _1st Shift 7:00-3:30pm (Full Time)
Responsibilities:
Remaining familiar with students' IEP/Service Plans, behavior plans, data collection sheets and special contracts Carry out activities, instruction and teaching techniques under direction of assigned SPED Teacher Utilize classroom management techniques that support learning, safety, accountability and visual monitoring of assigned students throughout the school day including lunch/recess time Co-lead therapy groups during the school day under the direction of Clinical staff Participate in departmental, supervision and program meetings as assigned Plan and conduct assigned subject area lesson(s) under the supervision of SPED Teacher Assist residential staff in before school morning routine and student transport to school site Serve as a healthy role model to all students Overtime may be required to ensure staff to student rations
Requirements:
Must have the maturity & objectivity to supervise, educate and maintain a safe environment Valid driver's license and reliable transportation RMV and background checks required Full Time (year-round)
