A Teacher Assistant assists classroom teachers by providing extra individual attention and instruction to students. Helps teachers with recordkeeping, preparation for lessons and activities and supervising students. May work with special education students, or work in a school library or computer lab; may be called teacher aide or paraprofessional.

Job Description

Assist the classroom teacher with daily instructional activities and classroom management.

Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning objectives introduced by the teacher.

Support students with varying academic and developmental needs, including those receiving special education services (IEP & 504).Supervise students in the classroom, during transitions, recess, lunch, and other school activities.

Help implement behavior management plans as directed by the teacher or specialist staff.

Prepare and organize classroom materials, supplies, and learning centers.

Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.

Provide social and emotional support to help students adjust to the school environment.

Participate in training sessions and professional development as required.

Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and school staff to support student success.

Position is 29 hours per week
