Job Description

Job Overview Join our dedicated educational team as a Paraprofessional/Educational Support Personnel (ESP), where your enthusiasm and commitment will make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with diverse learning needs. In this vital role, you will work closely with teachers, specialists, and families to support classroom instruction, behavior management, and student development. Your energetic approach will foster a positive learning environment, ensuring every child receives the personalized attention they deserve. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to inclusive education and help students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. School year position for this year and next. Duties Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans across subjects such as literacy, math, and early childhood education, including Montessori and preschool curricula Support students with disabilities, including those with autism and developmental delays, by adapting instructional materials and strategies to meet their individual needs Use communication skills such as American Sign Language and other augmentative methods to facilitate effective interaction with students who have communication challenges Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement techniques and behavior management strategies to create a safe and engaging learning environment Help develop and modify curriculum activities aligned with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to ensure personalized learning goals are met Provide hands-on care for toddlers and preschool-aged children, including childcare duties and toddler care routines Contribute to lesson planning, curriculum development, and literacy or numeracy activities that promote childhood development and foundational skills Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, IEP goals, and behavioral observations to support ongoing assessment and communication with families Requirements A Paraprofessional, ESP, or Teaching Assistant is responsible for providing hands-on support to a Teacher when implementing lessons or supporting instruction based on the IEP needs of students in a classroom setting. This includes working with small groups of students with and without disabilities, and at times, offering individual assistance to students in the school. ESPs may assist in helping with behavior management during lessons, tracking a student's behavior, and setting up classroom materials before and during class. Good written and verbal communication Assist teachers in classroom management and instruction. Ability to work individually and in small groups with children Knowledge of classroom subjects. Ability to read and understand instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to operate computers and tablets. Keyboarding skills and using educational software. Maintain confidentiality. Enforcing classroom safety and proper behavior Supporting the accommodations that the student needs in the classroom Reinforce content accommodations within assignments. Assisting with attendance Encouraging learning by engaging with students Setting up tools and materials before lessons or class Cutting out decor or craft supplies for an activity Supervising students during recess and class field trips Reinforcing concepts and lessons with students who need extra help Aids in escorting students throughout the school Trains in specialized programs as required Following the chain of command Other duties as assigned This role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to foster inclusive educational experiences while gaining valuable classroom experience.
