Immediately Job Description Health and Wellness Paraprofessional The H&W paraprofessional is a part-time position reporting to the Health and Wellness Counselors and the Director of Educational Support Services. Qualifications Experience interacting with children with varied abilities (i.e. emotional, behavioral and learning differences) Preference given to candidates with coursework in psychology, education or child development Ability to take direction from others and form a complementary relationship to classroom teachers that results in teamwork, a free exchange of ideas, and enhanced problem-solving skills. Ability to develop trusting and positive relationships with children Health and Wellness Paraprofessional Position Description The primary responsibility of the Health and Wellness Paraprofessional is to support students with identified emotional, social, and behavioral needs. The Paraprofessional is also required to support the goals/objectives identified in each Individualized Therapeutic Plan. Responsibilities Intervention / Monitoring Provide 1:1 and small group emotional, behavioral, and social support Provide in-class emotional, behavioral, and social support Teach THINK groups as directed by ESS director Identify students potentially needing intervention Sensory breaks, outdoor ed, calming, conflict resolution, social groups, recess support, various accommodation implementation Communication Maintain ongoing communication with counselors, classroom teachers, principal, and ESS Director Maintain intervention records Maintain student confidentiality Resource Function Provide input for ITPs Collaborate with teachers regarding students for whom they have concerns Assist teachers in carrying out accommodations Be a student's advocate to general education teachers and administrators Professional Development Participate in Professional Development days as determined in employment agreement Duties / Expectations Carry out staff duties as determined by administration
