Submit a resume and cover letter via email to hroffice@valleytech.k12.ma.us Vocational Teaching Assistant•Services Cluster Candidate will assist approved vocational instructors in the shops and related theory classrooms. Knowledge of the competencies and skills required of students in specific vocational technical areas is essential. The candidate will have an understanding of curriculum development, student learning styles and possess the ability to work with all students in assisting the approved vocational technical instructor in delivering quality programming to prepare the students to meet the demands of the modern workplace.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1.Assists in daily planning of shop projects and related instruction. 2.Monitors the activities of small groups of students. 3.Monitors students in completing shop tasks while helping them to develop an "effective work personality." 4.Assists the approved vocational technical instructor in accommodating the special needs of individual students. 5.Assists in the maintenance of individual records for each student. 6.Helps to maintain discipline under supervision of the teacher. 7.Assists the vocational technical instructor in maintaining a safe and clean work environment. 8.Assists vocational technical instructors in breaking down shop competencies, tasks and projects for diverse learners. 9.Assist the vocational technical instructor/s with analyzing data to develop appropriate accommodations to meet the needs of all students. 10.Provides assistance to the vocational technical instructor/s with the delivery of quality vocational technical programming to all students. 11.Drive students to and from worksites and school events
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 1.Candidate meets the DESE requirements for NCLB paraprofessionals (Vocational school graduate encouraged to apply). 2.Experience in the workplace in specific vocational technical training areas (CNA/Medical tradesperson preferred). 3.Candidate should be motivated to begin the process towards vocational certification; however, vocational certification is not a requirement for the position. 4.Characteristics which clearly incorporate a team concept and indicate ability to relate positively to high school students and colleagues. 5.Possess personal and professional history which is exemplary and supported with references 6. Experience in working with high school students. 7.Knowledge of shop safety, hand tools, power tools and equipment for specified shop area required. Vocation technical experience preferred. 8.The candidate must be able to inspire excellence, achieve consensus and respond effectively to the system's mission with enthusiasm and a positive attitude. 9.Possess a valid driver's license and good driving record in order to be authorized to operate Valley Tech's vehicles.
Compensation:
1. Compensation shall be based on the successful candidate's credentials, approvals, and experience. Hourly salary range of $24.00•$26.00/hour.
FLSA status:
Non-exempt 2. All benefits and entitlements available to School Year Support Personnel.
