Benefits Job Description The Assistant Teacher I supports a classroom of approximately 20 students by implementing activities and maintaining a safe, clean classroom environment that meets or exceeds OCC regulations. Duties include using classroom learning centers to implement activities with children; disinfecting toys: sweeping floors, wiping tables, chairs, shelves and cubbies and cleaning common areas a needed; supervising children throughout the classroom environment and encouraging positive behaviors; identifying potential classroom hazards; resolving conflicts; adhering to MSDE regulations and HCC policies; completing a minimum of six (6) hours of job related CEUs annually; and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Applicants must possess the ability to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 lbs; be able to participate in physical fitness activities including walking, running, jumping, dancing, and organized games; be able to stand for at least 45 minutes in both cold and hot weather extremes; be able to complete annual continuing education units as specified by the MSDE. This is not seasonal employment. Must be available after the summer. Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement. Required Education High school diploma or GED equivalent.
