Lumina Early Learning Group, LLC | Bethesda, Maryland About the Role Lumina Early Learning Group, LLC is seeking a warm, dependable, and engaged Toddler Assistant Teacher to join our early childhood team in Bethesda, Maryland. Our program is Montessori-inspired , with a strong emphasis on independence, purposeful learning, respect for the child, and thoughtfully prepared environments. This role is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys working with toddlers and understands that this stage is full of movement, language development, growing independence, and big emotions. You will work alongside the Lead Teacher to create a calm, nurturing, and engaging classroom where children feel secure and are encouraged to explore, participate, and do more for themselves. This position is available immediately. What You'll Do You will: Support the Lead Teacher in providing warm, responsive care for toddlers Help maintain a Montessori-inspired, thoughtfully prepared classroom environment that encourages independence, exploration, and purposeful activity Engage children in developmentally appropriate learning experiences, including practical life activities, language, art, music, movement, sensory exploration, and outdoor experiences Help introduce children to different cultures, traditions, languages, music, stories, and experiences as part of our global citizenship focus Model kindness, respect, inclusion, and care for others Support children's growing independence, language development, social-emotional skills, and self-help abilities Assist with daily routines including meals and snacks, diapering and toileting, handwashing, rest time, and transitions Supervise children closely and maintain a safe, clean, organized classroom Observe children's needs, interests, and developmental progress and communicate with the Lead Teacher Build respectful relationships with children, families, and coworkers Collaborate professionally with teachers and school leadership Follow all Maryland child care licensing, health, and safety requirements Required Qualifications Experience working with toddlers in a licensed child care setting preferred Must meet Maryland COMAR requirements for an Assistant Child Care Teacher or be willing to complete the required training 90-Hour Infant & Toddler certification preferred; candidates must be willing to obtain required Infant/Toddler training within 6 months of hire if not already completed Montessori experience is welcome but not required ; training and support will be provided Ability to actively supervise, lift, carry, sit on the floor, and participate in the physical care of young children throughout the day Dependable attendance and punctuality Patience, warmth, good judgment, and a genuine interest in early childhood education What You Bring You are someone who: Is warm, patient, nurturing, and responsive Believes young children are capable and enjoys helping them develop independence Is curious about Montessori principles and eager to learn more Values diversity, cultural awareness, and global citizenship Understands that everyday routines are opportunities for learning and connection Encourages children to explore, participate, make choices, and develop confidence Communicates clearly and respectfully with children and adults Values consistency, teamwork, and professionalism Brings positive energy to the classroom while maintaining a calm and dependable presence What We Offer Competitive hourly compensation Paid time off and paid holidays Childcare tuition discounts for eligible employees Ongoing professional development and training Opportunities to learn and grow within a Montessori-inspired educational environment A supportive and collaborative workplace Opportunities for professional growth and advancement About Lumina Early Learning Group Lumina Early Learning Group, LLC is an early childhood education program located in Bethesda, Maryland , serving young children and their families in a nurturing, engaging, and thoughtfully prepared learning environment.
