Job Description

Job Goal:
To provide service and support to students with speech and language needs to improve their speech, language, and functional communication needs through the implementation of IEP services goals, and accommodations developed by the speech-language pathologists.
Performance responsibilities:
Work under the supervision of licensed speech-language pathologists (SLP) to assist in the carryover and implementation of IEP services, goals, and accommodations for students with language and communication disorders. Work directly with students to conduct therapy sessions designed by the SLP, following specific instructions and guidelines to target speech and language goals. Work directly with students, under the supervision of an SLP, completing speech exercises, articulation drills, language comprehension, device programming, functional communication training, aided language modeling, or fluency improvement activities developed in collaboration with the SLP. Assist the SLP and Special Education Teacher in reviewing student data, documenting student progress, and identifying any changes in skills and/or behavior that may require changes to the student's learning Meet regularly with the SLP to review student performance data to inform practice, develop IEP supports and services, and/or revise IEP goals and services for appropriate amendments Maintain a structured, positive, and focused environment during therapy Prepare supporting materials and equipment for therapy sessions, in collaboration with the SLP, including but not limited to, language games, exercises, and educational tools. Maintain high levels of confidentiality in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act Any other duties the Director of Special Services may deem appropriate.
