Job Description

Associate Teacher -Full job description Center Overview Families First Learning Center is a non-profit preschool that is new to the Albion Community and provides services to families with children between the ages of six weeks to 12 years of age. The mission of Families First Learning Center is to provide high quality childcare services that will contribute to the growth of all children. We create conditions for families to thrive in the workforce by providing a safe and nurturing environment as their child/children begin their educational journey. We see each child through a lens that is wide enough to view the whole family. Families First is a place that provides education for staff, children, and parents. We are looking for individuals that are professional, caring, and dedicated; that want to make a positive impact in the lives of children.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Families First Learning Center teachers create a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment by fostering child creativity, confidence, and independence, through highScope curriculum. Our teachers inspire children and teachers alike to learn and grow, are passionate about educational excellence, and confident in teaching children. They understand the confidential nature of the work involved and treat information gained accordingly. Our teachers are committed to making Families First successful and know that meaningful relationships with children, families, and their team are important to success.

  • Work as a team member in providing a quality educational preschool program.
  • Assist in planning, implementing, and monitoring curriculum and assessment.
  • Work as a team in sharing responsibility for cleaning and organizing the classroom; and aiding children in toileting, changing clothes and other personal health care needs.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability during the workday and throughout the year based on program requirements.
  • Work with individual and small groups of students; supporting children's emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
  • Work collaboratively and communicate with the classroom teacher to implement lesson plans, activities, classroom tasks, and monitoring behavior.
  • Effectively supervise students at all times of the work day using a calm voice and in a patient and approachable manner; maintain and communicate accurate count throughout the day with team members.
  • Participate in training and on-going professional development.
  • Able to work flexible hours as needed, and assist in planning for family involvement activities, including home visits, recruitment events, open house, etc.
  • Assist team members with completion of all required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner per program procedures.
  • Represent Families First Learning Center in a professional and positive manner in all settings including social media.
  • Physical ability to work around small children including sitting, standing, walking, running, and climbing stairs.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

and fulfill all physical requirements of the role.

Qualifications:
  • CDA (Child Development Associates Degree) with experience in a preschool/childcare setting;
  • At least 2 years of experience in a preschool/childcare setting with a compliance plan upon hire to receive a CDA within 2 years;
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check
  • Must be willing to be or is CPR certified
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:

$16.50 - $18.00 per hour
