Job Description

Reports to: Principal/Superintendent;
Vice Principal Job Summary:
Henry Ford Academy is seeking a full-time English Language Learners (ELL) Paraprofessional to join our dedicated team of educators. This position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM. The English Language Learners (ELL) Paraprofessional will assist students with special needs under the direction of a certified teacher. The Paraprofessional will assist the teacher in general daily classroom activities, help special needs students, and care for their physical, emotional health and safety, affirming their abilities, and striving to promote dignity in all relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
➢ Provide instructional reinforcement of lesson plans, under direction of the classroom teacher. ➢ Attend students' physical, personal, academic, and wellness needs while on campus. ➢ Provide individual and small-group instructional support to ELL students. ➢ Reinforce English language development skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. ➢ Assist students in understanding classroom lessons, assignments, and directions. ➢ Support students in achieving English language proficiency goals. ➢ Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers. ➢ Tutor students on assigned coursework and academic skills. ➢ Assist teachers in preparing, modifying, and organizing instructional materials. ➢ Adapt classroom activities and assignments to support language acquisition. ➢ Help facilitate classroom activities, learning centers, and small-group instruction. ➢ Utilize educational technology and instructional resources to support learning. ➢ Perform clerical duties such as typing, filing, and photocopying; grade tests and homework; track student progress. ➢ Support students' academic and school-based social needs in a one-to-one or small group setting. ➢ Monitor student behavior, enforce school policies, and promote a safe and respectful environment. ➢ Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with students, parents, and staff, and participate in parent-teacher conferences and faculty meetings and events.
Qualifications:
➢ Successful completion of 60 or more credit hours at an accredited college or university and/or proof of successful score on an approved paraprofessional assessment (required). ➢ Prior experience working with high school students (preferred). ➢ Strong classroom management skills and the ability to adapt to a variety of teaching environments. ➢ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and administration. ➢ Commitment to promoting a positive and safe school culture. ➢ Ability to manage confidential information and student data professionally.
Work Environment:
The Special Education Paraprofessional will spend most of their time in classrooms within The Henry Ford Museum and/or Greenfield Village, interacting with students and staff, in addition to maintaining a positive school atmosphere. Schedule and Compensation Salary for the Special Education, based on experience and credentials, and considering the available school budget. The salary band is generally $38,000-$42,000 annually. ➢
