2026-2027 Position Summary St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic School is seeking a caring, dependable, and faith-filled Pre-K Assistant Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The Pre-K Assistant Teacher will support the Lead Teacher/Pre-K Director in providing a safe, nurturing, play-based, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for preschool students ages 3-5. This position assists with daily routines, classroom management, faith formation, small-group instruction, and age-appropriate learning activities within a multi-age preschool classroom. The ideal candidate is patient, positive, flexible, and enjoys working with young children in a Catholic school setting. This position is suitable for an entry-level candidate with a passion for early childhood education, although prior preschool or child care experience is preferred. Responsibilities Assist with daily classroom routines including arrival, dismissal, snack, lunch, rest time, bathroom routines, and outdoor play. Support whole-group and small-group instruction planned by the Lead Teacher. Provide additional support for students in a multi-age classroom serving children ages 3-5. Assist with learning centers, play-based activities, faith-based lessons, and hands-on learning experiences. Support students' social, emotional, language, fine motor, independence, and early academic development. Maintain active supervision and ensure student safety at all times. Use positive behavior supports and developmentally appropriate classroom management strategies. Assist in preparing, organizing, sanitizing, and maintaining classroom materials and learning environments. Communicate professionally with students, families, faculty, and administration. Follow all school policies, Archdiocesan requirements, licensing regulations, health and safety procedures, and confidentiality expectations. Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher, Pre-K Director, or Principal. Qualifications Be at least 18 years of age. Possess a high school diploma or GED. Enjoy working with preschool-aged children. Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, flexibility, patience, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team. Support the mission and Catholic identity of St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic School. Successfully complete all required criminal background checks and fingerprinting. Complete or be willing to complete Protecting God's Children training. Hold CPR/First Aid certification or be willing to obtain certification within 90 days of hire. Complete required professional development, training, and licensing documentation. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with preschool-aged children. Experience in a licensed child care center, preschool, Catholic school, parish program, camp, nannying, or similar child-focused setting. Coursework, CDA credential, degree progress, or degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or a related field. Willingness to learn and grow in early childhood best practices and licensing requirements.
