Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role supporting middle school students as an American Sign Language (ASL) Paraprofessional. Located near vibrant Livonia, Michigan, this full-time contract opportunity extends through June 2027, providing the chance to make a long-term impact in an educational setting. You will play a crucial part in facilitating learning and communication for middle school students, ensuring every learner receives the support they need to thrive.
Key Qualifications:
High school diploma required; candidates should be prepared to present a high school or college transcript if selected. Prior experience in a school setting is mandatory. Must possess fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) to assist students effectively. Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. Positive attitude, flexibility, and a strong sense of responsibility.
What You'll Do:
Provide ASL interpretation and direct support to middle school students throughout the school day. Assist teachers in modifying instructional materials and classroom activities for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing. Foster an inclusive, encouraging, and respectful learning environment. Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to promote student success. Monitor student progress, adapt support as needed, and document observations. Contribute actively to Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and team meetings when appropriate.
