Job Description

Job Summary Description:
The special needs teacher assistant provides individualized and small group support to assist students with the academic curriculum, social activities, emotional and physical safety, minimal to moderate ADLs, and functional routines throughout the day. Please email resume to rwlanpo@gmail.com
Key Responsibilities:
Provide academic and behavioral support to students with diverse learning needs in a neuro-affirming therapeutic environment Implement accommodations and modifications outlined in students learning plan (NO IEPS) and support goal progress Foster a positive, strengths-based approach that respects neurodiversity and promotes student autonomy, self-advocacy, and emotional well-being. Collaborate closely with lead teachers, special education staff, therapists, and families to ensure consistent and holistic student support. Assist in adapting curriculum, instructional materials, and classroom activities to meet varied learning styles and sensory needs. Support students with executive functioning skills such as organization, task initiation, and time management. Use proactive, trauma-informed, and de-escalation strategies to support students' behavioral and emotional regulation. Collect and document data on student progress, behavior, and interventions to inform instructional decisions. Facilitate social skill development through guided peer interactions, modeling, and structured activities. Maintain a safe, structured, and flexible classroom environment that supports sensory regulation and engagement. Assist with transitions throughout the school day, ensuring predictability and reduced anxiety for students. Uphold confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions with students, staff, and families.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent Experience working with children with disabilities Experience working with AAC (Augmentative Alternative Communication) Ability to follow detailed instructions and adapt quickly Strong communication, fun, assertive, patience, and problem-solving skills CPR, First aide, seizure trained ( provided) Must pass background check
Benefits:
Pay to match with experience and education $20/hr and up Hours 8:00-3:30 , Monday-Friday, or part time Trainings Small class size, 3:1:1 ratio 180 school year Work life balance

$18.00 - $24.00 per hour
