Job Description
Student Support Services Paraprofessional Richmond Community School District Position Summary The Student Support Paraprofessional provides academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to students identified as At-Risk and/or receiving Special Education services. This position utilizes a flexible support model, including push-in support within the general education classroom , one-on-one support with individual students or small groups , and resource center support in a structured environment designed to address academic and behavioral needs. The Student Support Paraprofessional works collaboratively with general education teachers, special education staff, and building administrators to promote student success and independence. Currently, we are accepting applications for a district floater position. This entails being at all buildings in the district (PreK-12).
Shift hours are:
Monday - Friday, 7:20am - 2:50pm Key Responsibilities Push-In Model Support Provide academic and behavioral support within the general education classroom. Assist the classroom teacher with accommodations, modifications, and differentiated instruction. Encourage inclusion by supporting student participation in class activities and discussions. One-on-One or Small Group Support Work directly with individual students or small groups to reinforce skills, re-teach concepts, and provide intervention strategies. Assist students in building organizational skills, self-regulation, and problem-solving abilities. Collect and maintain data on student progress as directed by teachers or specialists. Support Center Model Supervise and support students in the Resource Support Center. Provide targeted academic assistance and guided practice. Implement behavior support strategies and interventions as outlined in student plans. Foster a safe, supportive environment conducive to learning and self-regulation. Collaboration & Communication Work closely with general education and special education teachers to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and intervention plans. Communicate regularly with teachers and staff regarding student progress and needs. Participate in professional development and training as required. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or higher preferred. Meet state and federal requirements for paraprofessional certification. Experience working with children in educational or support settings preferred. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families. Ability to follow teacher/administrator directions, adapt to diverse student needs, and maintain confidentiality. Working Environment Standard school classroom environment. May require occasional evening or weekend work for school events or parent meetings. Compensation The compensation is outlined by the collective bargaining agreement with the Educational Paraprofessionals.
