As an Assistant Teacher, you will work alongside the Lead Teacher to create a peaceful, engaging, and beautifully prepared classroom where children are encouraged to become confident, independent, and joyful learners. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who loves working with children, values teamwork, and is interested in learning and growing within the Montessori approach. This is a permanent, full-time position in Saline, Michigan. What You'll Do Support the Lead Teacher in maintaining a beautiful, organized, and thoughtfully prepared classroom. Build warm, respectful relationships with children and help create a safe and welcoming environment. Assist with classroom activities, lessons, transitions, meals, outdoor time, and daily routines. Encourage children's independence, confidence, curiosity, and love of learning. Observe and support children's academic, social, emotional, and physical development. Help maintain a calm, respectful, and joyful classroom community. Collaborate closely with the Lead Teacher, Directors, and other team members. Communicate professionally and positively with families and colleagues. Participate in staff meetings, school events, and ongoing professional development. Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom while following State of Michigan licensing requirements. Bring professionalism, reliability, flexibility, and a positive attitude to your work each day. Qualifications Experience working with young children in a preschool, childcare, or educational setting preferred. Montessori experience or knowledge is a plus, but not required. A genuine love for working with children. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Dependable, caring, patient, and flexible. Willingness to learn and grow professionally. In person Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and fingerprinting Must meet Michigan child care licensing requirements Experience working with children ages 6 weeks to 6 years is preferred but not required Montessori experience is a plus—we're happy to train the right candidate CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain through employer-provided training) The position also requires: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds Ability to sit on the floor, bend, squat, kneel, and move frequently throughout the day Ability to actively supervise, interact with, and engage children in both indoor and outdoor environments Ability to remain on one's feet and actively participate in classroom activities for extended periods Willingness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to children's needs and emergency situations Ability to maintain visual and auditory awareness of children and the surrounding environmentPay:
