A Teacher Assistant assists classroom teachers by providing extra individual attention and instruction to students. Helps teachers with recordkeeping, preparation for lessons and activities and supervising students. May work with special education students, or work in a school library or computer lab; may be called teacher aide or paraprofessional.
Whitmore Lake Public Schools serves approximately 800 students in preschool through 12th grade and their families in Whitmore Lake and the surrounding area. WHAT WE NEED:
An individual who loves working with preschool children in a positive school setting. Possesses strong interpersonal skills and can work as a team, with the classroom teacher, other program staff, the school and the community. Ability to follow all school district, licensing, Great Start to Quality and Early Childhood Standards.
Seeking an individual with experience:
Ability to interact, connect and provide meaningful, positive relationships with preschool-aged children and their families while following solid early childhood practices. Providing a safe, healthy, and comfortable learning environment for preschool-aged children. Working as a team with the classroom teacher, school staff, families and the community. Strong communication skills with an ability to take direction and follow through with needed training and professional development as required.
WHAT YOU NEED
High school diploma Child Development Associate degree (CDA) or an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Experience working with preschool-aged children in an educational setting.
