In this vital contract role near Ypsilanti, MI, your presence and expertise as a paraprofessional will directly impact the safety and well-being of a young learner exhibiting challenging behaviors. You will collaborate closely with transportation staff, ensuring a calm and monitored environment from pickup through drop-off.

Key Qualifications:

Previous experience working as a paraprofessional, particularly with students who display behavioral challenges Demonstrated skills in de-escalation, crisis prevention, and behavior management Patience, resilience, and a compassionate approach to working with students requiring constant supervision Ability to provide non-judgmental, proactive support in unpredictable situations (including spitting and undressing behaviors) Strong communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities:

Accompany a female student on the school bus each day, maintaining continuous supervision and support throughout each run Remain vigilant to ensure the student's safety and the safety of others Intervene and redirect as needed to address behavioral incidents in a calm and positive manner Communicate regularly with bus personnel and report on behavioral incidents or concerns Uphold confidentiality and adhere to all school and district policies
