A Teacher Assistant assists classroom teachers by providing extra individual attention and instruction to students. Helps teachers with recordkeeping, preparation for lessons and activities and supervising students. May work with special education students, or work in a school library or computer lab; may be called teacher aide or paraprofessional.

Job Description

You have great communication skills. You are able to develop relationships with teachers, students and parents. You're patient and are able to work with children of different abilities and backgrounds. You are resourceful and are able to assist those with different learning styles. As Teacher Assistant you'll work with the classroom teachers to develop the learning environment, assisting in classroom activities. You'll help set up classroom materials; keep the classroom clean and safe; read to children; organize and supervise play activities and soothe children who are upset. You will follow the lead of the classroom staff to reinforce appropriate behaviors using positive guidance. You'll assist in family-style meals, snack, diapering/toileting, rest and teachers' breaks. If you have a high school diploma or GED, you'll need to earn your CDA credential or state-awarded certificate during your first two years with us. We'll pay for it and help you do it. If you have one of these certifications, an Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, you're already qualified. Preferred experience working with children ages birth•5 years old. You must have a strong commitment to BI-CAP's values of collaboration, innovation and compassion for those we serve. Rule 3 licensing requirements. You'll be eligible for a competitive benefits package and the opportunity to make a difference in the community. Full time, 32 hours/week, school year (mid August•through May).
No CDA:
$17.23•$24.12/hr;
With CDA:
$18.42•$25.78/hr. depending on qualifications, with benefits during the school year: medical, dental, vision, life/add, retirement plan, holiday pay and paid time off. Retention bonus eligible.
Schedule:
