Job Description
Job Duties Plan, develop, organize, implement and direct daily functions of the building and programs, including dietary, maintenance, emergency response system, housekeeping, and laundry. Develop a careful and creative program suitable for preschool children Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach children Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers or colors, do crafts etc.) Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times Track children's progress and report to parents Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children's background and psyche Collaborate with other educators Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards Requirements Must be at least 18 years old and meet one of nine possible combined credential, educational and experience requirements; for example, a high school diploma with 4,160 hours experience as an assistant teacher and 24 credit hours in a child care-related area of study. Serenity Kids can apply for a variance if Assistant Teacher is pursuing additional qualifications An assistant teacher must work under the supervision of a teacher CPR & First Aid; completed or able to complete Maintain orientation and annual training requirements Pass background check Ability to act as a mediator between children Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms Excellent communication and instructional skills Summary As a Preschool Teacher Assistant, you'll play an important role in creating a fun, welcoming, and engaging environment where young children can learn, grow, and build the skills they need for kindergarten and beyond. Working alongside our preschool team, you'll help with classroom activities, play, routines, and hands-on learning while building positive relationships with the children in our care. This is a great opportunity for a college student interested in education or child development to gain meaningful, real-world experience. We're looking for someone who is patient, dependable, energetic, and genuinely enjoys working with children. Previous childcare or classroom experience is a plus, but most importantly, we're looking for someone who is excited to learn and make a positive impact.
