Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Preschool Aide provides assistance to the Preschool Lead Teacher and Assistant Teacher in implementing preschool programs. The incumbent assists with carrying out the preschool mission and values by providing high quality preschool services to children and parents that focus on the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES
Assists with the implementation of daily curriculum within the established guidelines. Assists in supervising the children, classroom and all activities. Contributes to activity preparation, clean up and room maintenance. Maintains the preschool room and equipment. Attends and participates in program activities, staff meetings and staff trainings. 6. Follow all YMCA policy and procedures including Child Abuse Prevention.
QUALIFICATIONS
Meet Minnesota DHS Rule 3 Teacher Aide qualifications, including yearly in service requirements. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, Child Abuse prevention training, and Shaken Baby Certificate. Strong commitment to quality child care. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. A commitment to working with children in a developmental setting and a sincere desire to have a meaningful effect on their lives. Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. 7. Lead and participate in activities that may include running, throwing, kicking and swimming. 8. Lift heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs. 9. Never been convicted of any child abuse including sexual abuse
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations (depending upon the programs). Perform all physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time. The ability to calmly and effectively react in an emergency situation. This job description represents the major functions of the position but is not intended to be all-inclusive.
