Position Summary:
Assist the classroom teacher with performing duties necessary to meet the educational, personal, physical, and behavioral needs of an individual or group of special education students. The Special Education Paraprofessional's primary focus is on directly serving students or in preparation for meeting the students' needs.
Requirements:
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) - Associate's degree preferred. Read, write, and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Mobility and ability to lift and/or assist individuals who weigh up to 50 pounds. Hearing, speech, and sight are required. May be asked to complete the highly qualified exam.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Present information in one-to-one and small group situations to students, parents, and/or staff. Provide a variety of suggestions for working with students in the special education setting. Maintain flexibility in day-to-day dealings with staff and students. Maintain the confidentiality of all information regarding students. Perform duties within a tight daily schedule and with an awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Rate of Pay:
$16.48/hour Benefits offered for this position are as listed: Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST)/Sick Leave
