Working under the guidance of the Lead Preschool Teacher the Assistant Preschool Teacher will assist with day-to-day tasks such as preparing lessons, supporting students during activities, and maintaining a safe and organized classroom environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with young children. This is a part-time position (20-30 hours week) that requires a commitment to creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment that reflects the values of Catholic education.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Lead Preschool Teacher with preparing and implementing age-appropriate lessons and activities Support students during lessons, small group activities, and playtime to promote their development Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment Communicate effectively with the Lead Preschool Teacher, other staff members, and families Use active listening and problem-solving skills to support the needs of students Learn technology skills as required by the position Perform other job-related tasks as deemed necessary and/or assigned by the Lead Preschool Teacher or Principal Qualifications Experience working with young children, either through volunteer work or paid employment Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and engage with families Knowledge of pre-kindergarten educational practices and techniques Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with young children Active listening and problem-solving skills
