Position Overview The Midwest Playhouse Learning Center is seeking an energetic, dependable, and nurturing Spanish Teacher & Classroom Aide to join our team. This unique position combines teaching introductory Spanish throughout our preschool classrooms with supporting our teachers and children as a classroom aide. Our ideal candidate loves working with young children, is comfortable moving between classrooms, and can make learning Spanish fun, interactive, and age-appropriate. This person should also be a team player who is willing to jump in wherever needed throughout the day. Spanish Teacher Responsibilities The Spanish Teacher will provide engaging, developmentally appropriate Spanish instruction to our preschool-age children.

Responsibilities include:

Plan and lead simple, engaging Spanish lessons for children ages 2-5. Introduce age-appropriate vocabulary including colors, numbers, animals, foods, family members, greetings, weather, emotions, body parts, and everyday phrases. Incorporate Spanish through songs, movement, games, books, visuals, sensory experiences, and hands-on activities. Coordinate lessons with our current classroom themes whenever possible. Create a positive introduction to Spanish that encourages children to participate without pressure. Repeat and reinforce vocabulary throughout the month to help children build familiarity and confidence. Communicate with classroom teachers regarding vocabulary and concepts being introduced so teachers can reinforce learning throughout the week. Help create Spanish learning materials, visuals, activity cards, and classroom resources as needed. Document Spanish activities and learning experiences in Playground when applicable. Classroom Aide Responsibilities When not actively teaching Spanish lessons, this position will serve as a Classroom Aide and provide support throughout the Learning Center.

Responsibilities include:

Assist lead teachers with daily classroom routines and activities. Engage children in purposeful play, learning centers, process art, sensory activities, STEM experiences, music and movement, outdoor play, and other curriculum activities. Assist with meals, snacks, toileting/diapering, handwashing, transitions, rest time, and classroom routines. Provide active supervision at all times. Maintain a calm, nurturing classroom environment using gentle voices and positive guidance. Assist with preparing classroom materials and setting up activities. Help maintain clean, sanitized, organized, and inviting classrooms. Complete cleaning and classroom duties as assigned. Assist with Playground documentation, photos, and daily communication as directed by the classroom teacher. Provide classroom coverage and support wherever needed throughout the Learning Center. Follow all TMP policies, licensing requirements, safe supervision practices, and health and safety procedures. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate will: Have experience working with preschool-age children. Have a strong understanding of conversational or instructional Spanish. Be comfortable teaching basic Spanish vocabulary and concepts to young children. Be energetic, creative, patient, and nurturing. Enjoy singing, movement, games, and hands-on learning. Be dependable and punctual. Take initiative without needing constant direction. Be comfortable working in multiple classrooms and adapting to the needs of the center. Communicate professionally and positively with children, families, and coworkers. Be willing to assist with cleaning, toileting, meals, and all other responsibilities that come with working in an early childhood classroom. Support the Christian values and mission of The Midwest Playhouse. Physical Requirements Candidates must be able to: Sit and play with children on the floor. Frequently bend, kneel, stand, and move throughout the classroom. Lift and carry children or classroom materials as needed. Participate in indoor and outdoor activities. Maintain active supervision of children throughout the workday. Our program focuses on meaningful early learning experiences including Bible and character development, Spanish, process art, STEM and science, cooking, sensory exploration, music and movement, outdoor play, and kindergarten readiness. We are looking for someone who wants to be an active part of our team—not simply come in to teach a Spanish lesson and leave. This position plays an important role in both enriching our curriculum and supporting the everyday needs of our classrooms.

Pay:

$17.00 - $24.00 per hour Expected hours: 10.0 - 40.0 per week
