Elementary Job Description:

Soliant has partnered with a welcoming school district to hire a 1:1 ASL Paraprofessional for the upcoming school year. This position involves working directly with an elementary-aged student who is deaf or hard of hearing , providing communication access and classroom support throughout the school day. This is a 30-hour per week , school-based role ideal for candidates with strong American Sign Language (ASL) skills and a passion for supporting young learners. Candidates do NOT have to be certified in ASL.

Responsibilities:

Provide dedicated 1:1 support for an elementary student using ASL for communication. Facilitate communication between the student, teacher, and peers. Assist with classroom instruction and activities to ensure full student participation. Support implementation of IEP goals under the direction of the teacher and support staff. Help the student navigate transitions, routines, and social interactions. Maintain accurate documentation and communicate progress with the educational team. Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Qualifications:

Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required. High school diploma or equivalent (required). Experience working with children, preferably in a school or special education setting. Familiarity with deaf education or supporting students with hearing impairments is preferred. Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills. Ability to meet all school district background check and onboarding requirements.
