Under the supervision of the assigned Lead Teacher, the Assistant Teacher shall be responsible to: Work with assigned group of children applying Developmentally Appropriate Practices. Supervise the children at all times Facilitate and nurture the development of each child's self-esteem, trust, and growing autonomy. Respond quickly to children's different and personal needs (verbal and non-verbal cues), temperament styles, abilities, and cultures. Assist teacher in carrying out goals, policies, and activities designed to implement educational objectives and performance standards. Assist in an equal share of joint housekeeping and class preparation, ordered arrangement, appearance, decor, and learning environment of the classroom in cooperation with other staff. Assist teacher with documentation of daily needs and service plans, collection and input of screenings and ongoing assessment documentation (anecdotal records, observations, performing daily health observations.) Assist the teacher in developing and implementing daily and weekly lesson plans. Assist care giving routines and implementation of health plans. Assist in planning and carrying out open-ended activities for different levels of development and multicultural diversity of enrolled children. Assist the teacher in maintaining effective communication with parents, including home visits for parent/teacher conferences. Assist with transition into the program and exiting out of the program. Attend monthly staff meetings and in-service training. Assist with the recruitment effort. Contribute to a healthy and successful nutrition program by eating center prepared meals with the children. Continuing education as assigned. Registering on the Montana Early Childhood Project's Practitioner Registry (if not already registered.) Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

Age 16 or older High School Diploma OR working towards obtaining HiSET Current Infant, Child & Adult CPR certificate and Current First Aid certificate required, but can be completed shortly after hire.

MUST OBTAIN CHILD DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE WITHIN 1 YEAR OF HIRE

Ability to work with high risk families. Ability to maintain accurate records and submit in a timely manner. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Flexibility and ability to work as a team member. Ability to problem solve and organize. Ability to speak before a small group. Ability to complete online trainings

Physical Abilities:

Ability to see at normal distance. Ability to hear normal conversations and sounds. Ability to use hands and fingers to fill out required forms. Ability to sit on the floor, bend at the waist, kneel and/or stoop down 75% of the time. Ability to safely lift or assist children weighing up to 60 pounds.

Salary:

The starting wage for an Assistant/Floating Teacher with a high school diploma starts at $15.00 per hour. Wage is DOE and will be negotiated.
