Job Description

Assistant Teacher Compensation:
Hourly - $15.50 starting, pay may be higher based on education and experience.
Job Description:
An Assistant Teacher assists the Lead Teacher of their assigned room. They will work within a team setting to provide direct care and supervision of the children, while implementing the approved day-to-day curriculum. Fort Courage Assistant Teachers are overseen by the Lead Teacher of their assigned room and report to the Fort Courage Executive Director (ED) and/or Supervisors. They are expected to provide positive and professional adherence to the Fort Courage mission, while instilling valued trust and reliance to our community of families.

  • Ensure the health and safety of all students.
Required Qualifications:
An Assistant Teacher must meet the following minimum licensing requirements: This is a full time position.
  • Be at least 16 years of age.
  • Meet immunization requirements
  • Pass criminal background check
  • Sign a health attestation
  • Complete facility overview on-the-job training.
  • Be current on the ECP Practitioner Registry
  • Have current certification for infant, child, and adult CPR and infant choking response, and standard first aide. CPR certification must be completed in a hands-on setting.
  • Successfully completed teacher orientation
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High School diploma and minimum two years experience in a licensed childcare facility.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all demographics of the community.
  • Possess the ability to maintain composure during stressful situations.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
