A Teacher Assistant assists classroom teachers by providing extra individual attention and instruction to students. Helps teachers with recordkeeping, preparation for lessons and activities and supervising students. May work with special education students, or work in a school library or computer lab; may be called teacher aide or paraprofessional.

Job Description
The schedule is 2 days on 2 days off, every other weekend. Assist consumers in self-help skills, social skills, emergency procedures and other support strategies as outlined. Encourage good hygiene, assisting and prompting as needed. Conduct monthly fire drills, during awake and asleep hours. Oversee medical appointments and follow-through with written documentation. Document all health care concerns for consumers and ensuring all staff charts in writing. Provide appropriate interventions in medical emergencies; contacting physicians, pharmacists, poison control, rescue, etc. when indicated. Notify any changes to the Program Managers. Medication Administration Provide recreational/social outlets either individually or in a small group. Encourage consumers to actively participate in all aspects of daily living (cooking, housekeeping, shopping, etc.) Provide transportation through the use of agency vehicles and private vehicles as needed. Relate to consumers and other staff in a professional manner.
