Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Classroom Aide provides additional support to the Lead Teacher and Teacher Assistant in Head Start and/or NC Pre-K classrooms. This position serves as an extra set of hands in the classroom to help with daily routines and classroom operations so the teaching team can focus on instruction, individual child needs, and engagement with children. Assists with supervision, transitions, meals, tooth brushing, classroom setup and cleanup, materials, outdoor time, name-to-face counts, and other daily classroom routines. This is a supplemental third staff position in the classroom. The Classroom Aide does not replace, serve in place of, or fill the role of the qualified Lead Teacher or Teacher Assistant. The required qualified teaching staff must be in place for the Classroom Aide to serve in this supplemental role.
EDUCATION/TRAINING
Minimum:
High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred:
North Carolina Early Childhood Credential and/or previous experience working with young children. Must complete all orientation, health and safety training, and other requirements required by WNCSource, NC Division of Child Development and Early Education, Head Start, and/or NC Pre-K for the duties assigned.
EXPERIENCE
Experience working with young children in a classroom, child care, school, volunteer, or family setting preferred. Head Start or NC Pre-K experience is helpful but not required. Thank you for your interest in WNCSource!
