Teacher Assistants Job Summary:
Currituck County Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher Assistant to support student learning and assist teachers in daily classroom activities. The ideal candidate will foster a positive, inclusive learning environment and help promote academic and social success for all students.
Responsibilities:
Assist the classroom teacher with instruction, classroom management, and preparation of materials. Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce learning concepts. Supervise students in various settings including the classroom, lunchroom, playground, and during transitions. Support students with special needs as assigned. Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom. Perform clerical duties such as photocopying, grading simple assignments, and organizing supplies. Attend training, workshops, and meetings as required.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 48 semester hours of college coursework or Associate's degree required. Prior experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff. Basic knowledge of child development and instructional strategies.
