Job Description

Company Overview Academy for Children Montessori School & Child Care Center is a licensed preschool and child care program located in Fargo, North Dakota. We are dedicated to providing a nurturing educational environment for children ages 6 weeks to 13 years, focusing on their social and developmental needs through Montessori methods. Job description We are looking for full-time (9:00am-6:00pm shift) float teachers to float in all of our classrooms for Summer 2026 and School Year 2026-2027. We also have a full-time Assistant Teacher position opening in our Infant classroom. During the school year, we have five classrooms- infant through preschool age. During summer, we also have an elementary classroom. The role of the float teacher would be covering breaks, assisting lead/assistant teachers with lessons, projects, or other items necessary, supervising children at our school and/or on field trips, hands-on care and engagement with the children, and engaging healthily and communicatively with all staff, parents, and children. Other duties will likely include assisting with opening/lunch/closing procedures. The role of the Infant Assistant Teacher would be spending the school day with our infants (6wks-15months) and assisting the Lead Infant Teacher with daily care. You would help with art projects, learning activities and more, helping curate a Montessori Infant classroom environment. Hands-on care and engagement with the children, and engaging healthily and communicatively with all staff, parents, and children is also a necessity. Other duties may include assisting with opening/closing procedures as necessary. We are looking for highly professional, communicative, compassionate, and enthusiastic individuals who are interested in the field of education. Experience in childcare, education, and/or the Montessori method is preferred, but not required. However, a demonstrated interest to learn about and desire to work compassionately with children in the field is highly preferred if experience is not present, as we pride ourselves on the quality of our teachers and how they work with our students. We love working with college students and those pursuing a career in the childcare or education fields. Montessori certification opportunities, with expressed commitment to the health and growth of our program, are also available later on in employment. Required Qualifications:
At least 18 years of age U. S. Work Authorization ND (Childcare) Criminal Background Check (employment is contingent upon completion and approval- an approved CBC must be returned to us before you can begin working, if you do not have a valid CBC already) Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED training (must be completed within 90 days after hire date if not already obtained, ND Childcare Licensing approved facilitators only) ND Childcare Licensing required trainings (to be completed upon hire and annually, based on hours scheduled for work) Professional, reliable, and passionate attitude and work ethic (with children, staff, and families) Compassionate and communicative demeanor (with children, staff, and families)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the field of childcare, education, and/or the Montessori method Certification in the field of childcare, education, and/or the Montessori method Strong demonstrated interest and willingness/eagerness to learn/pursue a further career in the field of childcare and/or education (if no experience/certification in the fields) Thank you for considering applying to work with us as a float/assistant teacher.
