Job Description

The Lafayette School District is looking for qualified applicants for a fulltime paraprofessional. Prior paraprofessional experience and paraeducator certification is a plus but not required. We will train!

Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position:

Facilitates participation of all assigned students in classroom activities.

:


Facilitates peer integration

:


Implements IEP goals and objectives in an integrated setting

:


Gathers and records data on IEP goals

:


Carries out health, behavior, and safety protocols

:


Communicates with the teachers, special education teacher, administration, and related service providers about student progress and observations

:


Maintains confidentiality when it comes to student information

:


Serves as a resource person to the special education team

:


Maintains positive relationships with all school staff, students, and parents

:


Refers all parent concerns to classroom teachers and/or special education teacher

:


Supports and implements discipline philosophy of school.

:


Follows District policies, procedures, goals, and approved curriculum for content areas.

:


Follows all federal, state, and school district policies, laws, and procedures that pertain to public education.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Interest in and experience with children

Reflect a positive/helpful attitude when interacting with school community (students, staff, administration, parents, and the public).
