Job Summary The Teacher Support Lead is a member of the Teacher Support Team of the Hillsdale College K-12 Education Office. The Teacher Support Leads support communities of teachers and help to build relationships among a national network of classical educators. Essential Job Functions Primary responsibilities include: Conducting observations at schools, especially new schools and schools in need of additional support, and providing feedback to teachers and school leaders Providing teachers and school leaders with support through regularly scheduled meetings, phone calls, and emails, or by connecting them to Master Teachers, Literacy and Math Trainers, other members of the Hillsdale K-12 team, or another member school leader or teacher. Contributing to regular teacher forums, which aim to build teacher communities through remote means Contributing to the facilitation of training and professional development sessions in support of the Hillsdale K-12 academic program Conducting training and professional development sessions for schools on-site, remotely, or coordinating these sessions with Master Teachers or other trainers Secondary responsibilities may include: Contributing to the curation and creation of curricular and pedagogical resources, in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Curriculum and the Director of Publishing. Participating in obtaining additional resources from non-Master Teachers Identifying what resources are most needed, based on what is observed in the field Working with other members of the Hillsdale K-12 team who will help produce materials (print, audio/visual) for distribution Contributing to the content planning for K-12 Office Events, especially the annual Summer Conference in Classical Education Bringing input and ideas based on what is observed in the field Presenting at the summer conference Participating in the annual review and publishing of the Program Guide, Bill of Materials, and Best Practices Participating in school leader interviews
Required Qualifications:
This position requires a bachelor's degree and a minimum of five (5) years' experience in K-12 education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform the job. Preference will be given to candidates who possess principled knowledge of an integrated, classical K-12 curriculum, who demonstrate mastery of classical pedagogical practices, and/or have experience coaching and leading teachers.
