A Teacher Assistant assists classroom teachers by providing extra individual attention and instruction to students. Helps teachers with recordkeeping, preparation for lessons and activities and supervising students. May work with special education students, or work in a school library or computer lab; may be called teacher aide or paraprofessional.

Job Description

Qualifications:
Minimum:
60 College Credits or Pass Parapro Assessment (score 456 or higher)
Preferred:
New Jersey certification as school substitute teacher
Preferred:
Crisis Prevention & Intervention (CPI) certification
Preferred:
Experience working with children with special needs
Preferred:
Experience working with "At Risk" and Emotionally Disturbed students Must pass CHRU background check Must have recent Tuberculous screening
Responsibilities:
Provide support to students with special needs, including individualized attention and assistance. Monitor and supervise students during classroom activities, ensuring their safety and well-being. Collaborate with the lead teacher to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Skills:
Experience working in a school setting Familiarity with special education practices and strategies. Ability to provide literacy education support to young learners in English. Understanding of childhood development principles and milestones. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in English. Ability to engage and interact effectively with children.
