QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent. Meets the highly qualified definition in one of the following areas: or a passing score on the Paraprofessional Praxis Examination proof of completion of 48 college credit hours including the 15 hour general education requirement which includes English Composition (3), English/Reading (6) and Mathematics (6). earned a two-year Associate's Degree from a state approved institution. Demonstrates competence using a computer. Maintain specialized training under the direction of School Psychologists to support behavior. The behavior paraprofessional will be reassigned to support where deemed appropriate by the Supervisor of Special Education. Additional criteria as the Board may establish.

JOB GOAL
To assist students that demonstrate difficulty managing and regulating appropriate behaviors in the school setting.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs): Implement strategies and interventions outlined in BIPs created by certified school psychologists and other qualified personnel.
Data Collection:
Accurately collect data on student behavior and skill acquisition during sessions according to BIP instructions.
Collaboration:
Work closely with special education coordinators, teachers and other school staff to ensure consistent implementation of interventions
Reinforcement and Motivation:
Help identify and implement appropriate reinforcement strategies to motivate students and promote positive behaviors.
Maintaining Records:
Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress and data.
Crisis Intervention:
May be involved in crisis intervention situations, following district procedures and utilizing approved techniques.
Following IEPs:
Work with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). Knowledge and understanding of Behavior Principles, de-escalation techniques, and restraint and appropriate application. Experience with
Special Needs:
Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities is preferred.
Communication Skills:
Effective oral and written communication skills are essential for collaborating with the team and reporting on student progress
Patience and Empathy:
A patient, empathetic, and understanding demeanor is essential when working with students with behavioral challenges.
Problem-Solving Skills:
Problem-Solving Skills:
Need to be able to identify and address challenging behaviors effectively. Reports to assigned locations and follows the schedule provided by the Special Education Supervisor. Reports job-related injuries within 48 hours of a work accident to his/her immediate supervisor. (Job-related injuries" include, but are not limited to, any accident or illness which involves loss of consciousness, restriction of work or motion, or medical treatment. Performs other duties as assigned by the proper authority.

OBSERVATION AND EVALUATION
Performance in this position will be evaluated at least once annually in accordance with Board policy by designated Coordinator of Special Services and Supervisor of Special Education.
